If you approach someone on a claimable body, you are not allowed to attack on sight.
To contest for a body you must threaten call and you must give enough time for a response. If there is no response after 10 seconds you then have the right to engage

Contest Participation

Only players within the body down protection range of 2 x body length when the body is contested are allowed to participate in the contest engagement.

If contested for a body, each individual of the group being contested must respond with one of the following within 10 seconds:

Distress call OR running away:

You immediately forfeit your right to fight for the claimed body and must leave the engagement.
A distress call or running away will provide you protection to get away only if it is your first response.
A distress call or running away is final and you cannot change your mind.

Threaten call OR no response:

You accept the challenge and will fight for the body.
If a threaten call response is given within the 10 seconds, combat can then begin.
A threaten call or no response is final and you cannot change your mind.

Distress calling after accepting a challenge for a body will only provide you protection if further than x4 body length away from the body. Otherwise it will not provide you any protection.
You can only distress call 20 seconds after the accepting the contest to flee
All bodies down including the original are claimed to the winning group.
If the winning group are the original owners their original timer remains, or until the body is gone - whichever comes first.

If the winning group is the contesting party, they must stay by the body and will have body down protection for whichever applies first in the following:

The body disappears or is finished.

If you or your group lose the contest after engagement, you cannot contest for any of the bodies and you must leave the area.

Carnivores from Mid Tier and up cannot attack the Low Tiers while they are on a body.

Mid Tiers+ has to threaten call the Low Tiers off the body first.
Mid Tiers+ cannot eat with the Low Tiers without contesting - It still belongs to them
